Waziri Adio-led Agora Policy Calls for Growth that Delivers for Nigerians

Agora Policy, founded by ALIWA Class V (Karfi Kuo) Fellow Waziri Adio, is challenging policymakers to look beyond headline economic growth and focus on whether Nigeria’s recovery is translating into better living standards.

In a recent policy memo, the think tank argues that Nigeria’s 4.4% GDP growth remains insufficient to significantly reduce poverty, create enough jobs, or improve household welfare, particularly given the country’s population growth and recent economic pressures.

The memo calls for a more inclusive and employment-driven growth strategy, with greater attention to productive sectors such as manufacturing and agro-processing, alongside investments in infrastructure and human capital. Through Agora Policy, Waziri continues to strengthen evidence-based public discourse and provide a platform to examine how policy choices can translate economic progress into tangible improvements in the lives of Nigerians.
