Martin Eigbike Expands Gawani Africa to Strengthen Local R&D on the Continent

ALIWA Class VI (Nkyinkyim) Fellow Martin Eigbike is strengthening Africa’s capacity to retain and build on locally generated research through the expansion of Gawani Africa, the strategy and policy advisory firm he founded in 2019. The firm is expanding into venture building, creating platforms and institutions designed to preserve and translate research generated through development programmes into lasting solutions.

The expansion includes ThinkNG, an R&D brokerage platform designed to connect African research talent with industry demand across sectors including health, agriculture, digital finance, clean energy and pharmaceutical manufacturing. Through the initiative, Martin is seeking to bridge the gap between research and real-world application, while strengthening locally driven innovation and ensuring valuable knowledge continues to create impact beyond the lifespan of individual programmes.
