Patrick Awuah’s Ashesi University Model Spotlighted as a Blueprint for African Higher Education

For more than two decades, ALIWA Fellow (Class I – Inaugural) Patrick Awuah has been challenging conventional approaches to higher education through Ashesi University, building an institution dedicated to developing ethical, entrepreneurial, and values-driven leaders for Africa.

In H1, this work received renewed global attention through a case study published by the Stanford Social Innovation Review, which highlighted Ashesi as a model for educational innovation and systems change. Beyond transforming the lives of its students, Ashesi is helping strengthen higher education ecosystems across the continent, demonstrating the power of African-led institutions to shape the future of leadership and learning.
