Simi Nwogugu on Building the Next Generation of Young African Leaders

Under the leadership of ALIWA Fellow (Class VI – Nkyinkyim) Simi Nwogugu, President and CEO of Junior Achievement Africa, the organisation delivered more than 1.6 million learning experiences across 23 African countries in FY2025—more than 12 times its FY2021 reach.

The milestone caps JA Africa’s five-year Boundless strategy, which combined digital innovation, stronger partnerships, and expanded support for underserved youth. The organisation also recorded significant outcomes through its Social Equity Program and Digital Entrepreneurship Education Program, equipping thousands of young Africans with entrepreneurship, employability, and leadership skills to shape the continent’s future.

In a Forbes feature earlier this year, Simi also articulated an ambitious vision for a leadership pipeline reaching 10 million African girls—one rooted in practical entrepreneurship, advocacy, and lifelong support networks that empower girls to lead and thrive well beyond the classroom.
